AXS TV Channel

Founded: September, 2001 (orginally HDNet)
Parent Company: CBS Corp, AEG, 2929 Ent., etc.
Tagline: "The best in music programming and festivals"
Website: axs.tv
Previously Mark Cuban's HDNet, the newly branded AXS TV shifted from movie-centric programming to a solid mix of live concerts, MMA, comedy and general-interest movies. That shift took place when new partners/owners were brought on board in 2012. After one of the largest live events company (AEG) signed on, the channel strategically added a ton of new live music events and festivals to its repertoire. Some of the events they've exclusively broadcast include the Stagecoach Festival, Zac Brown Band Festival, Coachella, Carrie Underwood, Elton John and a slew of others. Bottom line, if you're a music fan and dig concerts, AXS is likely to become one of your favorite channels.
Back in the day, HDNet was mostly geared towards guys and gearheads. With its shift to a much broader audience and mix of coverage, most carriers (particularly DIRECTV and DISH) have seen a signicant rise in the channel's popularity. Expect AXS to continue to showcase live music and niche sports...via the channel proper as well as its Video on Demand outlets.
