One of the biggest and most seasoned pay TV channels around, Turner Broadcasting Systems (TBS) is a big part of the CNN, TNT and TruTV family. Owned by WarnerMedia, it features a popular mix of family programming, sports, animated and reality shows. On the sports side, TBS has the occasional rights to the MLB, NHL, NCAA basketball (March Madness), pro wrestlng (AEW Dynamite) and more. While TNT carries a ton of NBA games (its the exclusive rightsholder in the family), TBS stopped carrying games in the late 90s. For a couple decades until 1996, TBS was the de factor home for the Atlanta Braves. Anyone in the country could watch their games and it really changed the landscape of sports and media coverage (and created a ton of Dale Murphy fans in the process :).

In addition to plenty of original programming (American Dad!, The Last O.G., Final Space, Full Frontal with Samantha Bee, etc.), they syndicate a ton of top-rated programs from other studios (The Big Bang Theory, Family Matters, 2 Broke Girls, Friends, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, etc). TBS is also the home to plenty of Hollywood blockbusters -- if it did extremely well at the box office and is just ending its theater run, there's a good chance you'll eventually find it on TBS. Most tend to be comedies but a fair share will be thrillers or dramas. Friday and Saturday nights at TBS are a nice alternative to Netflix or the local movie theater, especially during a pandemic. Overall, thru the 80s and 90s, TBS was responsible for shaping a lot of cable and pay TV trends we see today. And along with its sister channel, TNT, and the behemeth CNN, the Turner Network continues to pave the way.
