More about this offer

Free pay-per-view rental every month, on DISH

DISH has a very healthy On Demand library (>20,000 new flicks, >80,000 total titles) and as part of this promo, folks 55 and over get their first PPV rental free. Only the first of each calendar month applies so just be sure you check the time and date if you're on the cusp of a new month. Pay-per-view movies can run up to to $7.99 per rental so if you take advantage of this deal every month, it's a nice running value, each and every month.

DISH Protect Plus

Even though the Hopper and the rest of DISH's equipment are known for their reliability, high tech equipment can occasionally fail and under most leasing contracts it's a toss up whether the repair or replacement will be covered. To bridge that gap you can essentially add a very inexpensive insurance plan to your account. Called DISH Protect Plus, it lets you schedule their top tech agents and get your equipment fixed for no or very little cost (eg, if Fifi the poodle knocks over a glass on your receiver and it stops working, a service call will cost you $0 vs the typical $95). DISH Protect Plus normally runs $9.99/mo and as part of the 55+ yo special, you'll get 6 months free ($60 value).

Bottom line

At nearly $20/mo in perks, there's no reason not to activate this promo when you sign-up. Current subscribers, simply call up customer service or fire up an online chat session. All you'll need to do is provide proof of birth date (Drivers license, passport, etc works). DISH may even be able to qualify you based on your credit report, be sure to follow up with support. Finally, if you're also (or were) in the armed forces, DISH's military offer provides quite a bit of additional value so be sure to check that out as well.

Where to get this offer

As of 4/24/2024, DISH.com, the official site, is the only place to immediately get access to this promo. As it's not an automated part of the ordering process, don't forget to bring it up with your customer service agent.

How long will it be available?

With most of these bonuses, it's difficult to predict how/when it'll be replaced (DISH may not even have a specific end date in mind, if any). As of this writing, it's been live for over 5 months so there's a good chance it may become part of their regular added-value options for the foreseeable future. One thing's for certain though -- if you qualify now, you'll reap the rewards for at least the life of your initial 2-year contract. Note that this was launched as a trio with the military and first-responder offers so with all the good karma, it makes little sense for DISH to phase it out anytime soon.
