Live a Little Package
As the name implies, Live a Little is DIRECTV Stream's starter plan and gives you access to its most basic channel line-up. Considering the other streaming TV plans out there, your first thought might be that it's mostly fluff or marginal programming. Well, after a review of the 60+ channels included, each and every one manages to stand on its own (virtual) two feet. From movies to comedy and drama, you'll get a hefty dose of entertainment, all for a relatively low price tag. Specifically, the Live a Little plan goes for $35/mo and since everything is broadcast via your internet connection (NO outside or inside equipment), that's the final price as well...i.e., you'll never get charged for anything extra. Continue on to learn more about its programming...

First off, all DIRECTV Stream plans include what I refer to as "required core programming": channels that most folks from cable or satellite TV have come to expect and, if missing, are likely consider it a deal-breaker. Some of those include A&E, Animal Planet, Bravo, CNN, Comedy Central, Discovery, ESPN/ESPN2, FX, FOX Sports 1, MSNBC, MTV, Spike, TBS, TNT, USA, etc. Not a bad starter group, especially for a streaming/OTT line-up. The first place Live a Little IS lacking is in local sports coverage. Of the 4 DIRECTV Stream plans, it's the only one that doesn't include any of your local sports channels, for example: FS (Fox Sports) West, CSN Bay Area, Prime Ticket, SportsTime Ohio, YES Network, etc. So, if you're used to catching your local MLB or NFL team on one of those channels, you'll probably want to look at the next three plans. With regard to non-sports local channels, all four DIRECTV Stream plans carry the same restrictions: if you're within a certain radius of the "official" local city (e.g., New York), you'll get all 4 local channels available: ABC, NBC, FOX and Telemundo. Otherwise, you probably won't. And, finally, due to licensing issues, CBS is currently not available on DIRECTV Stream.
PERFECT FOR: folks that don't follow local sports and can live without a DVR playlist.
